Camps and Lodges of Botswana
A variety of camps and lodges are available when visiting Botswana. Not being the most economical safari destination to visit, your tour operator must know the region well to give you value for money throughout your holiday.
Lodges and camps vary from personally run, privately owned set u
ps, to "company owned" set ups which generally form a circuit throughout Botswana and on occasions Southern Africa. Most lodges or camps are fairly extravagant offering the client a very comfortable safari experience with your accommodation offering being on a similar standard of that to a high quality four or five star hotel. Luxury Lodges and Camps:
Botswana has an infinite selection of luxury lodges throughout the various National Parks, private concessions and Reserves. These lodges are often the most expensive in Botswana and even Africa but they do offer a fantastic wildlife experience, elegant comfort and high levels of service. Some of our favourite lodges are listed below with some of them being more luxurious than others and some being more wildlife orientated.
Selinda Camp - A privately owned camp located in the private Selinda Concession with a communal pool to cool off in during the hot hours of the day. Owned by Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the renowned photographers and film makers, this camp offers great comfort and excellent wildlife viewing.
Zarafa Camp - formerly known as Zibalianja Camp, this is also a Joubert's privately owned camp located in the Selinda Concession. A step up from Selinda Camp (if that is possible!) with only 4 huge luxuriously designed tents, his and hers bathroom, outdoor shower and private plunge pool overlooking Zibadianja Lagoon.
Kwando Lebala Camp - newly refurbished this camp is owned by the Kwando private concession. Set on the open plains of the Kwando Reserve providing access to some excellent wildlife viewing with a small communal plunge pool and large comfortable semi permanent tents.
Kwando Lagoon Camp - the sister camp to Lebala this camp is more about the wildlife than the luxury. Tents are clean and comfortable wit
h ensuite facilities and views of the Kwando River however they are starting to look rather worn.
Shinde Camp - a camp with a mixture of water based and land based activities and providing the traveller with a comfortable experience as you dine in the dramatically designed raised dining room overlooking the plains. Game drives, makoro trips and walking safaris are all possible from Shinde Camp.
Stanley's Camp - a tented camp keeping that traditional rustic safari feel. Dine under the stars with an evening barbecue or walk with elephants at the locally based Grey Matters Project. Smaller tents than other camps but a nice personal feel and one where you feel close to nature.
Chobe Chilwero Lodge - a beautifully designed lodge located just outside Chobe National Park. Luxurious cottages with extravagant ensuite bathrooms, a tiered landscaped pool and a chic spa for those lazy afternoons.
Chief's Camp - a luxury camp located in Moremi Game Reserve on the renowned Chief's Island. Huge luxury tents with private balconies, wireless internet access, indoor and outdoor showers and a lovely dining deck with views over the Delta. Some of the best guiding and wildlife viewing in Botswana.
Mobile Camping:
Our mobile camping safaris offer a slightly more budget orientated approach to your Botswana holiday. Mobile camping set ups with a full logistical team to set up camp every day and a specialist accompanying guide. Meru style tents (you can stand up in these) with comfortable camp beds, bed linen and ensuite facilities consisting of chemical toilets and bush showers.
