Botswana Family Safaris and Holidays

At first glance, Botswana does not look like a family safari destination however if you look carefully there are a number of lodges that are happy to have families to stay. As I am sure you would expect, there are various recommended age limits which is usually around the age of 9; this is as much for the safety of the children as anyone else. In some destinations, private safari houses are available which sets everyones minds at ease as parents can keep an eye on what there children are up to! In other camps adjoining rooms or family rooms are available so please do discuss this with us if it is of interest as it will also help to reduce the cost.

Specific lodges and camps may also have staff on hand that are trained to look after children if parents wish to have some time to relax. We always recommend that a few toys (nintendos, books, puzzles, etc) are taken along, as during the middle of the day when you are not on a game drive this will help to keep children occupied.

Cost is usually the main issue when travelling as a family to Botswana as even for independent travellers it can be expensive; as a family however you often need to book your own private safari vehicles for game drives and therefore this does increase cost.
